How Much Does it Cost to Signwrite a Car?
As with all signwriting and wrapping projects, there are two considerations:
- The cost of the design.
- The cost to create and then apply the product to the vehicle.
Companies that create and apply vinyl signage will have in-house designers who can create the perfect signwriting for you.
For basic designs, perhaps where you already have a logo and prefered font, this service is usually included in the cost.
For more elaborate and bespoke designs, expect to pay extra, how much will depend on the complexity of the design.
The prices below are an average of the figures given to us by 11 signwriting firms in 2022.
First, we asked for a basic design incorporating our company logo, some descriptive text, a telephone number and web address.
Next, we asked for more coverage such as some background colour or graphics to make the signwriting stand out.

Van Signwriting Cost
We also asked our 11 chosen firms to provide us with a quote for signwriting a medium-sized van.
We requested the following basic design:
- 2 to the rear doors (1 on each door).
- 4 to each side of the van.
- 1 to the front bonnet.
- Logo incorporated into a basic design with text, phone number and web address.
We then asked how much it would cost to add some extra graphics, text and background colour to parts but not all of the van.
The van doesn’t have any existing signwriting so no preparation work is required.

Magnetic Signs: Are They Any Good and How Much Do They Cost?
Magnetic signs are perfect if you use several different vehicles, are renting a vehicle or if you use one vehicle for several different purposes or if you run multiple businesses.
Magnetic signs aren’t always the best option because:
- They can come off at high speed, usually motorway speeds.
- They can be stolen.
- They don’t always look as professional as vinyl permanent signs.
From our research conducted in April 2022, we think the cost for each sign will be:

DIY Signwriting Cost
There are several UK based printers online that allow you to design and print your own signs.
These are then posted to you, usually within a day or so.
The vinyl prints are easy to install, just remove the paper backing and apply it to the clean surface of the vehicle.
Based on the research in 2022 we think a good quality set of signs for a medium-sized van will cost you:

Cost to Wrap a Car or Van
Wrapping is a process where the vehicle is either partially or fully covered by a vinyl film. There’s a wide range of colours available and you can include as much or as little bespoke content as you like.
Vehicle wrapping also protects the paintwork from scratches and salts that cause rust. The film can be removed by a professional.

About These Prices
In 2022 we sourced prices from 11 randomly selected signwriting firms in the UK and asked them to provide quotes for basic and mid-coverage signwriting using our logo and preferred font/colour etc with a basic design. We didn’t ask for any complex graphic designs which would have added to the cost. The prices shown on this page are averages of the figures given to us, please bear in mind that the cost of signwriting may be higher or lower depending on where you live in the UK.
