The first was a medium-sized dog, a Springer Spaniel. The second was a larger dog, a Giant Schnauzer.
What Exactly is Dog Grooming?
Dog grooming is much more than a haircut or a wash and there are different levels of grooming.
The process, however, generally involves some or all of the following:
- Hair brushing and stripping (stripping is often charged as an extra)
- Washing. shampooing and conditioning
- Hair cutting
- Nail cutting (often as an optional extra)
- Ears cleaned and plucked
- Mouth freshener
While some basic day-to-day grooming can be done by the owner, hair cutting, styling and nail work is best left to a professional.
There are many benefits to dog grooming:
- Improves the look of your dog
- Improves the smell of your dog
- Lowers the chances of your dog suffering from skin, mouth and eye conditions
- Frequent hair cutting keeps your dog cool in the summer
- Makes it easier to spot rashes, parasites, cuts and scratches
